Supporting A Dream

A decade ago the Prince's Trust provided me with the self belief to follow my dream and supported me along the way on my self-employed journey; after years of battling chronic illness. Last night I was thrilled to return the support at the one year celebration of the Cheryl Trust Centre. The Trust really does change lives; my emotions ran high as I shared my story with emerging talent from the enterprise and the North East business community. I am delighted to be able to provide a helping hand to the Trust and look forward to supporting our youth break down their barriers, pursue their aspirations and achieve their dreams.

I have over 20 years of education and experience in the arts, media and events sector, with the last 10 years focusing on the wedding industry. Since the age of 5 I aspired to set-up my own wedding planning business, I had tested the water twice previously but I believed the obstacles and challenges that I faced would prevent me from achieving my ambition. The Trust not only helped me realise my opportunities but gave me the confidence to deliver a service that is true to my own personal ethos and values.

Today I feel incredibly lucky to have received such amazing support, I get to create such happiness in people's lives, uniting families in marriage never fails to fill my heart with love. I am incredibly passionate about each and everyone of the beautiful couples I am privileged to work with, it is such a joy to design and project manage their magical experience. My work with venues and my pride in the North East has allowed me to focus on my beliefs in celebrating our regions heritage, the importance of regeneration and sustainability and providing valuable resources and facilities to communities. My passion for community is further fulfilled through my charity and voluntary work were I can utilise my experience, skills and knowledge to make a positive impact.

Gratitude; to say I am grateful, just doesn't do justice to the sentiment. I will never forget being sat at my kitchen table back in 2008 with my Princes Trust mentor Melissa Middleton who told me "you can do it" and provided me with the actual strength to smash down my barriers, face my challenges and actually do it. Thanks for the ride Prines Trust North East, I look forward to many more fabulous years working alongside you.

'Youth can do it' you definitely can!
